Flooding in Rogerstown, Rush

COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/RUSH-LUSK/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE

MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday 13th February, 2020

ITEM NO. 70

Question: Councillor B. Dennehy

"That the Chief Executive report to this Committee on what remedial

works have been carried out and are proposed to be carried out to repair

and prevent further flooding in Rogerstown, Rush where manholes and

the surrounding tarmacadam have been lifted up off the road due to

flooding at various times over the last two years.”

Reply:

As this location is at sea level there is an ongoing risk of flooding when

heavy rainfall coincides with tidal action.

The covers that have lifted during heavy rainfall are foul water covers.

The remit for the maintenance of water and drainage infrastructure is

now the responsibility of Irish Water. Councillors wishing to receive

updates relating to IW Capital Projects can make direct contact through

the Local Rep Support Desk (LRSD) - localrepsupport@water.ie.
