COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL
FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL
BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING
[Services A – Operational Matters]
Thursday, 10th December 2015
ITEM NO. 58
Question: Councillor B. Dennehy
“To ask the Chief Executive to carry out a traffic survey with the intention of
providing a pedestrian crossing at the school end of Naul Main street to allow
crossing of the road to Residents and Pupils attending the local school as
currently there is no designated area to cross the road from Delvin Banks up as
far as the school itself?”
Reply:
There are ‘school children crossing’ signs with warning lights, and ‘school children
crossing’ signs on both approaches to the school.
The pedestrian footfall, combined with traffic volumes, would not be considered
high enough to prioritise the provision of a pedestrian crossing at this location.
The request for a pedestrian crossing will be given consideration in future works
programmes, if and when a source of funding becomes available. Schemes are
prioritised primarily on the basis of traffic volumes, road safety benefit and
accident reduction.
