“To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the request of Rush Christmas
Lights Committee to get sites throughout the town where permanent discreet
lights can be permanently erected?”
Reply:
The Operations Department met with representatives of the Christmas Lights
committee on a number of occasions recently. At these meetings the committee
made a number of requests which in general we were able to help with,
however, while the permanent sites were mentioned, no detailed discussions of
the issue took place. In general , for aesthetic and arboreal reasons we would
not be in favour of leaving lights in situ as it looks unsightly and can cause issue
around tree maintenance.
