COMHAIRLE CONTAE FHINE GALL

FINGAL COUNTY COUNCIL

BALBRIGGAN/SWORDS AREA COMMITTEE MEETING

[Services A – Operational Matters]

Thursday, 10th December 2015

ITEM NO. 83

Motion: Councillor B. Dennehy

"That the Chief Executive following on the successful inclusion of Rush National

School in the recently published list of new schools due to begin construction in

2016 members of the operations department along with other interested stake

holders in Fingal County Council convene a site meeting with RNS Board of

Management as early as possible in order to progress the required traffic

management plan covering Sundrive Road, Walsh's Lane, Channel Road, Daly's

Lane and other surrounding traffic and pedestrian routes affected by the

temporary placement of the School, Pupils and staff in a new temporary site on

the Channel Road during the construction period which will also allow the

required works to be included in the programme of works for 2016."

Report:

Planning permission was granted in 2013 for the demolition of the existing Rush

National School, including the removal of existing temporary accommodation,

and to construct a new 2-storey school building on the same site.

Condition 9 of the grant of permission by An Bord Pleanála, shown below,

requires the submission and agreement of a construction management plan

prior to the commencement of construction. This construction management

plan includes the routing of construction related traffic, measures to obviate

traffic queuing, alternative arrangements for pedestrian’s and vehicular traffic as

well as other construction related issues.

On receipt of the construction management plan a meeting with the Board of

Management and other stake holders will be organised.
